System for Administration and Monitoring of Fishing Activities

The task of this thesis was to do researches based on information by potential users connected to fishing activities in Czech Republic. After researches finished design and implement system for administration of fishing activities. During the work on system was performed multiple iterations of user testing and in reaction to the tests was made some changes in the system. The system is developped using Nette Framework combine with Bootstrap library as responsive web application.

Icelandic fisheries as the national interest and its influence on the formation of the foreign policy

Presented thesis analyzes the Icelandic fisheries as a national interest and its role in foreign policy. Importance of fisheries confirms the fact that in the first half of the twentieth century marine products accounted for over 90% of Iceland's exports and the Icelandic economy was fully dependent on one sector. Gradual diversification of the economy in the seventies, however, caused a decline in exports of fish products to one-third of total exports. The thesis assumes that the Icelandic fisheries have a significant impact on foreign policy, even though its economic importance is declining. The research is carried out on three historical events, such as the cod wars in the fifties and the seventies, mackerel dispute in 2010 and the withdrawal of Iceland's application to the EU in 2015. It would be expected that due to the economic ties and Icelandic membership in international organizations (NATO, EFTA) the Icelandic government would primarily seek peaceful solutions in international conflicts. However, it could be observed in the Icelandic case that due to the pressure of the domestic politics the government does not respond as it would be expected. Marketingový průzkum názoru veřejnosti na rozsah a intenzitu využívání krajiny ve Zlínském kraji

The aim of the thesis is a marketing survey of public opinion on the extent and intensity of landscape utilization in the Zlín region. More specifically, we deal with public confusion about land use, public and private greenery, and fisheries, forestry, nesting, bioenergy and nature conservation. Citizen's views were identified using questionnaires and the results were processed into tables and charts. The results show that people in the Zlin region are generally interested in the landscape around itself and its use. Residents of smaller towns and villages are more interested in using land, forestry and hunting. People living in cities, on the other hand, deal mainly with the issue of urban greening.

Tresčí války: Island jako (ne)předpokládaný vítěz

This bachelor thesis deals with the Cod wars, a series of disputes between the United Kingdom and Iceland. The disputes were triggered by Iceland's unilateral extention of its territorial waters. It was caused by Iceland's fear of foreign fishermen's negative impact on local economy and culture. The disputes are unique, for the warring parties were partners within NATO. The disputes are nevertheless mostly interesting for the fact that their end was rather unexpected. Every time victory was on Iceland's side. This thesis investigates, what the reasons for such an outcome were. The investigation is done by an analysis of Icelandic national interests, devided into three categories with help of relevant theories of international relations. The outcome of this analysis is an identification of Icelandic advantages.

The Greenlandic Journey towards Sovereignty: the Role of the European Union in this Process

This thesis researches the role of the European Union in the Greenlandic journey towards economic self-sufficiency and political sovereignty. The main goal of the thesis is to interpret the position of EU as a foreign partner of Nuuk. The author concentrates on three main areas. The first one is fishery, the sector which is currently of the greatest importance to the country's economy and on the grounds of which Greenland left the structures of the European integration. This area was also fundamental for the shaping of the original form of the EU- Greenlandic relations. The second area is the extraction of Greenlandic natural resources, which in future might be the potential source of Greenlandic economic self-sufficiency; however this will not be possible without foreign investments. The third area is the political framework of sovereignty-seeking efforts within the country, the entire Danish realm and in the global context. This paper is a compilation thesis supplemented by author's interpretations of primary sources. In the thesis the author confirms his hypothesis that the EU even after Greenland left the EEC represents a fundamental aspect for the development of Greenland toward full independence.

Spatial agent-based models of common pool resources

This thesis examines the application of the spatial aspect applied in the com- petitive models in the context of the natural resource economics. At first, the spatial models are thoroughly derived in one dimension. Then also their general properties such as the choice of the agents' location or their payoff function are examined. These properties are investigated for various distri- butions of the resource, and therefore they depend also on their parameters. The Nash equilibrium and local stability conditions are derived for the basic setups. In the second part, these competitive models are numerically tested also in a two-dimensional space. One of the results also suggests, that in the setup where the players have perfect information, the beginning player is not necessarily always better off than the second player. Throughout the entire thesis it is also comprehensively examined whether the existence of corners of the strategy space has an impact on the existence of the competition which was successfully demonstrated on several cases. Hunting and its legal regulation

Presented dissertation thesis focuses on legal regulation of hunting in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland and Germany. Due to the fact that the hunting legislation is largely a matter of national law, the work discusses about the fundamental institutes of legal regulation of hunting wild animals (games and fishes). Institutes common to all the countries are the term "game" and the protection of the gene pool. Along with legal regulation of hunting shall be considered property right and its relation to the enforcement of hunting or fishing rights. The common feature of all the legislation is to determine the conditions under which natural persons may hunt or fish, hunting periods, hunting methods, and regulation of the establishment and use of hunting districts. National legislation of hunting and fishing, as is the case in other areas of law, cannot be isolated from the effects of international law and EU law, therefore work also provides an overview of the basic acts of international and supranational law affecting hunting and fishing. In conclusion, the work offers the author's de lege ferenda opinions.

Legal regulation of the protection of sea mammals

The topic of this master thesis is the international legal regulation of the protection of marine mammals. The thesis concentrates primarily on the analysis of the species based international law instruments for the protection of the individual marine mammal species. This thesis is divided into six chapters. The first chapter addresses the main principles of the international environmental law, which have the biggest influence on the protection of marine mammals (biodiversity protection, precautionary principle and sustainable development). The second chapter describes the regulation of fisheries, which is closely related to the protection of marine mammals. This part deals with the historical beginning of the international regulation of fisheries, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the division of the sea areas, regulation of individual fish species and the regulation of fisheries after the UNCLOS. The particular instruments of protection of individual species of marine mammals except Cetaceans are described in the third chapter (i.e. polar bears, Pinnipeds and Sirenidae). The protection of Cetaceans is analyzed in detail in the fourth chapter. The protection of whales on the ground of International Whaling Commission is accented.
